Johnny Green of the famous Johnny Green’s Blues Cowboys. Imagine a Hank Williams/T-Bone Walker hybrid blasting from the wireless in a sleek 1950’s cadillac with fins bigger than Texas, and the thump of thunderous rain sizzling in the desert sun all around, and you have something close to the feel of The Blues Cowboys. Johnny will be joined by his son, Hank Green of Hank Green’s Blues, who was raised on a diet of blues and boogie woogie. He started playing the ukulele at 3yrs of age and at age 6 he taught himself guitar from Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Little Walter and T-Bone Walker records. At the age of 9, Hank was playing guitar in his father’s legendary pub band, Johnny Green’s Blues Cowboys. Six years later, Hank fronted his own band with Johnny “Thurnderbolt” Gray on drums and Ezra Lee on piano. Their rockin’ bluesy style has made them popular across Australia. Hank’s debut album, “Swampturtle” was released in 2012 and he is featured on Ezra Lee’s 2012 album “Cashed Up ‘n’ Crazy.”
Ezra started playing piano at the age of four, learning the Floyd Cramer tune “Last Date” from his father Ed Matzenik. Ezra used his father’s record collection to teach himself the boogie woogie and barrel-house piano styles. Ezra was a fairly late starter, not joining his first band until he was thirteen; but by age fourteen he had joined the legendary Australian Pub Band “Johnny Green’s Blues Cowboys” and toured with them for eight years. He has produced six studio albums: Preston Rockabilly #2 (2008), You Can’t Stop a Freight Train (2009), Motor Head Baby (2014) and Boomerang Boogie (2016). From Tamworth to Byron Bay, Vegas to Barcelona, Ezra Lee is a star.
